CHIKMAGALUR: L.H. Manjunath, executive director of the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), said here on Tuesday that his organisation intended to invest about Rs. 150 crore in the next three years for its rural development programmes. Speaking to presspersons Dr. Manjunath said that for the effective implementation of the proposed activities, a business of Rs. 12.78 crore had been prepared of which the SKDRDP would contribute Rs. 10.11 crore. He said commercial banks and the State Government would be approached to extend support to these activities. Pointing out that the SKDRDP was in the forefront of the country’s NGO sector, he said plans had been drawn up to promote 12,500 self-help groups (SHGs) comprising of 37,500 families of small and marginal farmers and 5,000 women SHGs comprising of 50,000 members in Chikmagalur district. Jayaram Nellithaya, director of the Chikmagalur district unit of SKDRDP, was present.
