BIJAPUR: With the controversy over Anudeva Horaganavanu by Banjegere Jayaprakash ending with the ban on the book, yet another controversy over Sharana’s caste background appears to have erupted here. Kurubara Hej jegalau by Chandrakant Bijjaragi of Bijapur, who is also the president of Gadinadu Kurubara Sangha, was launched in May 2006. The seventh chapter of the book, which deals with the leading personalities of the community, concluded that Basaveshwara hailed from the Kuruba community. The issue has come to focus in the wake of the controversy over Anudeva Horaganavanu and some Veerashaiva organisations have sought a ban on Mr. Bijjaragi’s book. – Staff Correspondent
