NTR Trust to fund medical education of topper

HYDERABAD: Osmania Medical College (OMC) emerged as the favourite for majority toppers with all the top 25 rankers opting for it on the first day of the counselling for admission into medical colleges on Tuesday.

The first candidate to opt for Gandhi Medical College (GMC) was the 27th rank holder K. Chinna Rao and the next candidate. S. Chinnam Naidu opted for Andhra Medical College in Vishakapatnam.

The Minister for Medical Education Galla Aruna Kumari inaugurated the counselling at Prof. G. Ram Reddy Centre for Distance Education (PGRRCDE), Osmania University by handing over the first allotment letter to V. Saiesh Reddy, one among the three toppers. The other two top rankers Aitha Sai Kumar and K. Rajendra Prasad Reddy got their letters from the O.U. Vice Chancellor Suleiman Siddiqui and the NTR University of Health Science Vice Chancellor A.V. Krishnam Raju.

Specialisation in Cardiology was the ambition of all three candidates and Saiesh Reddy said he would go to United States to realise his dream. Sai Kumar, who hails from Karimnagar said his first task was to successfully complete the course and live up to the expectations of his parents.

Rajendra Prasad Reddy, who shared the top rank with Saiesh and Sai Kumar expressed his gratitude to NTR Trust that has promised to fund his medical education course given his poor financial background.

Son of a small farmer in Papaiahpet village in Chennaraopet mandal of Warangal district, he approached the NTR Trust for financial help and they agreed to take care of his fee for the entire course period.

“The Trust has agreed to provide Rs. 45,000 to meet all expenses like tuition fee, hostel fee and books,” he said. The course fee is Rs. 10,000 per annum in Government Colleges. Despite his Telugu medium background, he is confident of excelling in his medical course.
