Datta Peetha case hearing adjourned
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday adjourned further hearing on appeals by the State Government on the Datta Peetha shrine at Bababudangiri in Chikmagalur district.
The State had appealed against a single-judge order directing the Commissioner of Religious and Charitable Endowments to hear representations by Datta Peetha Samvardhana Trust and others before passing orders on the religious rites and rituals being followed at the shrine.
When the matter came up, the State Government filed a memo urging the court to permit it to delete the names of several respondents in the appeal.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice A.N. Venugopal Gowda permitted the State to delete the names and posted the case to August 30. The Trust filed its objections to an interlocutory application by the State. — Staff Reporter
