HYDERABAD: The Legal Metrology Department booked over 100 cases against cinema halls across the State, including 40 in Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad, for selling eateries, soft drinks and packaged drinking water at excess price. In a random raid on Tuesday, the department officials inspected over 15 cinema halls and Prasad’s Imax Mall in the twin cities and booked 14 cases against them. While, some outlets at Prasad’s Imax Mall were selling chocolates and packaged drinking water at an excess price of Rs.2, others were found selling eatables even without date of manufacture and maximum retail price, said Assistant Legal Metrology Controller P. Venkataram Reddy. Rs. 5,000 will be collected as compounding fee against each case from the managements, he said. People can register their complaints over toll free Legal Metrology consumer helpline number 1860-425-3333.
