Four killed as car, bus collide

KANCHEEPURAM: Four persons were killed and a woman was injured when a car and a State Transport Corporation bus collided on the bypass road at Madurantakam on Tuesday.

According to the police, when the unregistered car, driven by Syed Basha of Kallakuruchi in Villupuram district, jumped over the median and hit the bus coming from Coimbatore to Chennai in the opposite direction. While Syed Basha, Subramani, Senthil and Pargunan died on the spot, Subramani’s mother, Indirani of Kallakuruchi was injured and was rushed to the Chengalpattu Medical College Hospital.

Indirani, accompanied by Senthil and Pargunan of Kallakuruchi, came to the Chennai airport on Monday to receive her son Subramani, who had returned from Dubai. The crew and passengers of the Chennai-bound bus escaped , the police said.
