Kalam to shift to Army guesthouse
NEW DELHI: From a sprawling 329.73-acre Rashtrapati Bhavan having nearly 500 rooms, President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will shift to a five-room guesthouse in Delhi Cantonment on Wednesday evening.
Ahead of his arrival, his two suitcases and a large number of books were brought at the High Risk Category Officers Hut on Tuesday.
The guesthouse, where he would be dropped by the new President, Pratibha Patil, has been specially readied by the Army and Mr. Kalam accepted the offer made by Army Chief Gen J.J. Singh.
Mr. Kalam would use the guesthouse for a few hours before leaving for Chennai, where he would take up a teaching assignment at Anna University. — PTI
