Monica Bedi released from jail

Staff Reporter

Monica Bedi

HYDERABAD: There was no trace of rigours of the confined life and the cheerful look was back on her face. Confidence personified and walking tall, Monica Bedi stepped out of the Chanchalguda Central Prison on Wednesday morning, setting off a mad scramble among a battery of videographers and cameramen.

“Jail life had taught many a lesson which helped me emerge stronger,” disclosed the star of yesteryears, who is now looking forward to revive her acting career in Telugu film industry and also in Bollywood.

Monica, whose release was delayed by a day because formalities could not be fulfilled, was driven to an undisclosed destination by her relatives and advocates. Later, she flew to New Delhi and it was only at the airport that she conceded to the media request to talk.

Clad in an embroidered pink kurta and faded jeans and looking relieved, Monica broke into a smile when she was asked about her marriage. “I have just come out of jail and you are talking about marriage? Give me a break,” she laughed.

“There are offers from Telugu film industry and Bollywood,” Monica said .

Thanking the almighty, her family members and fans who wrote ‘wonderful’ letters boosting her morale, the companion of alleged mafia gangster Abu Salem said she trusted everyone earlier and thought everybody was nice. “But this time I’ll be careful about everything.”

She said she would come to Hyderabad shortly as there were some movie offers.

Red corner notice

Ms. Bedi and Salem were arrested in Spain on September 18, 2002 following a red corner notice issued by Interpol following persuasion by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
