BHUBANESWAR: Task Force on Women and Violence (TFWV), a non-governmental forum working on the issues of violence against women in the State, has demanded action against Deputy General Manager of Reserve Bank of India Hrudananda Panda for the alleged murder of his wife Saswati Panda. Probe sought
The orgaisation and the victim’s parents also appealed to Orissa and Maharashtra Governments to facilitate proper investigation of the case. Supported by TFWV, Saswati’s father B.K.Mishra, a former principal chief conservator of forest, and mother Mandakini Mishra spoke to the media here on Wednesday. They said the couple were married for ten years and have an eight-year-old son, they informed and alleged that ever since her marriage their daughter was being tortured by her husband and mother-in-law for demand of dowry. Mr.Panda was transferred to Mumbai in August last year and his wife and son shifted there just three months ago. Saswati was found hanging in quarter on June 9, her parents said. She was ‘brought dead’ to the hospital, they said. A six-page letter addressed to her husband and retrieved from Saswati’s personal computer tells volumes of her suffering, the Mishra couple said.
