Former chief of Revolutionary Writers’ Association is among the duo
KORAPUT: Sriramulu Srinivas, 38, and Sukal Madi, 35, two hardcore naxalites were arrested in Malkangiri district on Wednesday. The two naxalites were nabbed by the Special Operation Group and Kalimela Police from Deckguda forests near Kalimela in the morning hours. Police had prior information of their movement in the forest and hence they could catch them without any bloodshed, Satish Kumar Gajbey, Superintendent of Police of Malkangiri district said Sriramulu , who hails from Timapuram village in Nalagonda district belonged to the Andhra Pradesh cadre and was an active member of the Central Core Committee of the outfit since 1985. He was involved in more than 100 cases in Andhra Pradesh and about 20 cases in Orissa, he said. He was known as Kiran, Sudershan, Lachna and Praveen, Mr.Gajbey said. Sriramulu, who joined the outfit as district secretary of Nalgonda unit, has occupied various positions. He was the chief of Revolutionary Writers’ Association and a member of Andhra-Orissa Boarder Special Zone Committee . However Sukal from Chattishgarh cadre joined the naxals last year , and was involved in the encounter with the STF at Jhargati in Chattisgarh recently, the SP said.
