Sash-bohu trade charges

Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR: It was a sash (mother-in-law) and bohu (daughter-in-law) conflict with a difference. On Wednesday, Suresswari Samantray descended at State Commission for Women (SCW), the forum, often used by bohus to lodge a complaint against their scheming sashs. She alleged that her bohu was torturing her for the last few years. Ms Samantray, college teacher, urged the SCW to intervene to get justice against alleged torture given by her daughter-in-law. The family belongs to Puri. According to SCW sources, Ms. Samantray’s son got married to one Snehalata Mishra. But after the marriage, there had been constant conflict between the two women in the family. As a result, bohu Snehalata Mishra, lodged a complaint last year alleging that Ms. Samantray was harassing her for dowry. Subsequently Ms Samantray was suspended from the college. Now, the mother-in-law took the turn to knock on the doors of the women commission for justice.
