Release fertilizer subsidy immediately: farmers

PERAMBALUR: The Tamilaga Vivasayigal Sangam has urged the Centre to take immediate action for ensuring supply of fertilizers to the farmers for the forthcoming samba season.
A resolution adopted at the executive committee meeting of the Tiruchi-Perambalur district committees held here on Tuesday said the fertilizer supply crisis had been caused due to non-disbursal of fertilizer subsidy to the manufacturers. Immediate steps should be taken for the speedy disbursal of subsidy, the resolution said and urged the Centre to come to the rescue of the farmers.
Another resolution called upon the State Government to take expeditious action for improving the efficiency of the crushing capacity of the public sector sugar mills at Eraiyur near here.
