School upgraded

PERAMBALUR: The Panchayat Union Middle School at Veloor near here has been upgraded into a high school with effect from the current academic year. The Education Department has issued an order to this effect on Wednesday, sources sais.

Car festival

Hundreds of devotees pulled the car of Sri Veeramakali Amman here on Wednesday, on the occasion of car festival, marking the ninth day celebrations of the ‘Poochorithal’ rituals.

Earlier, the processional idol of Sri Veeramakali Amman was taken to the car where special ‘pujas’ were performed.
