Encroachments: State orders survey
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: Minister for Revenue Jagadish Shettar told the Legislative Council on Wednesday that the Government had instructed all deputy commissioners to identify and survey the reported encroachment of government lands, including lands that were once lakes and tanks, and file a report at the earliest.
Replying to “Mukhyamantri” Chandru (BJP), he said the Government had embarked upon a new programme of identifying and surveying the encroached land following public complaints, for the first time. The programme had got a fillip by the good work of the Joint House Committee headed by A.T. Ramaswamy.
Encouraged by the committee report that identified and conducted a survey of the reported encroachment of government land in and around Bangalore, the Government asked the district authorities to identify and survey such lands in their revenue areas, he explained.
