CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president M. Krishnasswamy has appealed to party workers not to indulge in a smear campaign against one another and if they had any grievances, they should inform the TNCC or the high command.
“They should not indulge in the ‘unhealthy’ practice of pasting posters against their party colleagues.” Recently a group of Congress leaders organised a meeting in the city and suggested measures for revitalising the party.
Condemning the meeting, posters had appeared in the city asking the party workers not to fall a prey to the “evil designs” of some vested interests. This was countered by another poster which appealed to the workers not to believe those who were trying to thrive on sacrifices made by the workers.
Perturbed by such posters, Mr. Krishnasswamy in a statement issued here on Wednesday said pasting posters and counter-posters by party workers would bring down the image of the party.
‘Should not weaken the party’
Activities of the workers should be aimed at strengthening the hands of All-India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi and at any cost they should not weaken the party, the statement said.
