Over 1,500 anganwadis to be started this year: Stalin

TIRUCHI: An additional 1,539 anganwadi centres and 3,168 anganwadi sub-centres will be started during the current financial year, Local Administration Minister M. K. Stalin has said.

Speaking at the third State conference of the Tamil Nadu Anganwadi Workers Association here on Wednesday, Mr. Stalin said the Government implemented several child-care programmes and as part of this, additional anganwadi centres and sub-centres had been sanctioned, in addition to 45,726 anganwadis functioning in the State.

Organisers

Steps would also be taken to appoint 2,361 anganwadi organisers and 6,434 anganwadi assistants this year.

Transport Minister K. N. Nehru, Forests Minister N. Selvaraj, Social Welfare Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna, Dairy Development Minister U. Mathivanan participated.
