Varsity issues ‘charge sheet’ to Panikkar

Vadodara: The M.S. University has issued a “charge sheet” to the suspended fine arts faculty in-charge dean Shivaji Panikkar for defying orders to stop exhibition of “erotic paintings” put up on the faculty premises on May 11, sources in the university said on Wednesday.

It alleged that Professor Panikkar never denied the charge of inviting the public to witness the exhibition, in which allegedly offensive paintings of Hindu gods and goddesses and Jesus Christ by student Chandramohan were on display.

The authorities said Professor Panikkar had been given 10 days to reply to the charges. — PTI
