Indian paddlers stay on course
NEW DELHI: Indian boys and girls stayed on course to enter the team quarterfinals on the opening day of the Asian junior table tennis championship at Honegseong, Korea, on Wednesday.
, India defeated Pakistan 3-0 and beat Iran 3-1. It will take on Vietnam and Japan on Thursday.
In the girls’ section, India blanked Iran 3-0 and then scored a creditable 3-1 victory over Chinese Taipei before going down to Singapore 0-3.
In the cadet category, the boys defeated Qatar 3-1 to warm up for the important clash against Korea 2 on Thursday.
In the cadet girls’ section, too, India made a winning start by beating Macau 3-0.
