KOCHI: There was every reason to believe that the real estate lobby sabotaged the waste disposal efforts of the Kochi Corporation and the district administration, Mayor Mercy Williams said here on Wednesday. The Corporation and the district administration were disposing of the waste in a scientific manner and the work was done on a war footing. The resources and manpower of the Corporation were deployed for the work and people were working overtime. However, the moves were scuttled, she alleged. Each household should cooperate to process its waste on its own. The people of the city should wake up against the real estate lobby which had eyed the land near the sites for the Smart City project and the Vallarpadam International Container Terminal, the Mayor said.
