Hitting the right note with ‘Le Solsege’

The group that put together ‘Le Solsege’.

PUDUCHERRY: Music truly has no boundaries. This group of 7 — a teacher and her 6 students — chose to show their love for their school, teachers and friends through an audio CD.

Anu Alex, Sharon, Jenny, Anne, Anila and Laura of St.Joseph of Cluny School in Puducherry have brought out a CD titled ‘Le Solsege’ — Loving and Leaving — with 8 songs.

Lt.Governor Mukut Mithi released the CD recently at the bicentenary celebrations of the Cluny Congregation.

‘Le Solsege’ denotes the seven musical notes as well as the seven members in this musical group.

It was a suggestion from their teacher Nithya Marie Helen, who has now left the school to take up another assignment, that prompted these students of Standard XII to come out with the CD. The summer of 2007, the beginning of their academic year, was the time they chose to write the songs and compose the music.

The CD begins with a song titled Above All, a prayer to God. Leaving My Sweet Family is about leaving school, and the piece — Welcome Back Sister — is a welcome song for Sister Emiliana, the school principal. The music was arranged by Kenny Wesley Stephen. The CD was recorded at Jo’s Sound Garden at 38, Muthumariamman Koil Street. For copies, contact Anu at 0413-2251630.
