PUDUCHERRY: The French School of Asian Studies (EFEO) in Puducherry is organising a music concert by Padmabhushan awardee Trichur V. Ramachandran at 6.30 p.m. on Friday. Mr. Ramachandran, who started singing at the age of five, initially trained under Varkala Subramania Bhagavathar and Trippunithura R. Krishna Iyer. He later trained under Sangita Kalanidhi G.N. Balabubramaniam. He gave his first public concert at the age of fourteen. He is also proficient in Hindustani classical music, which he learnt from Pandit Krishnanand of Kirana Gharana. The concert will be held at the library hall of the EFEO at 19, Dumas Street. He will sing a selection of Sanskrit songs. He will be accompanied by M.A. Sundaresan on the violin, K.V. Prasad on the mridangam and Vaikom Gopalakrishnan on the ghatam. Entry is free.
