Shops raided

NAMAKKAL: A team of officials from the Namakkal Municipality conducted raids in shops in the town on Wednesday to prevent the shopkeepers from selling packaged food and cool drinks even after the date of expiry. The raid was conducted following complaints from a large number people. The team seized over 2000 drinking water packets, in which the date of expiry was not printed.

They also seized soft drinks that were about to be sold even after the date of expiry from the shops.

Legal action would be initiated against the shopkeepers, who were found selling packaged goods beyond the expiry date printed on them.
