From Krishnagiri Reservoir Project

Krishnagiri: Farmers in Krishnagiri have requested the State Government to release water from the Krishnagiri Reservoir Project for the first crop. The Krishnagiri dam built across the Thenpennaiar River is the main source of drinking water for Krishnagiri town, Sandekuppam and numerous wayside villages.
In addition, water from the dam also meets the agricultural needs of Periyamuthur, Sandekuppam, Thimmapuram, Thallihalli, Kalavehalli, Gundalampatti, Mittahalli, Errahalli, Penneswaram Madam, Kaveripattinam, Palekuli, Marichettihalli, Nagojanahalli and Paiyur, irrigating 9,012 acres of land.
According to the president of the Krishnagiri Dam Farmers Association, Veerabadrachetty, due to abundant rain last year, the storage level in the dam increased significantly. As a result, water was released from the left and right main canals of the dam during the second week of June.
The water level in the dam has now increased to 43 feet thanks to widespread rain over the past few days. There is a possibility of the dam’s storage level increasing to 52 feet. With agricultural works for the first crop in full swing, farmers hope that water from the dam would be released in the first week of August for an increase in agricultural production similar to that of last year.
