Meet delves on service tax

TIRUCHI: The provisions regarding registration, filing of returns and other statutory provisions under service tax law were explained on Tuesday during an open house-cum seminar on service tax, including new services introduced in the union budget.

At the session presided over by the Commissioner of Central Excise, Bhikhoo Ram, Additional Commissioner Vasa Seshagiri Rao, and Assistant Commissioners A. Rajendren and P.A. Vijay detailed the various provisions.

The participants comprising service providers and representatives of various associations were also informed about the levy and provisions of the new services, viz, renting of immovable properties; asset management; telecommunications; mining; development and supply of contents; works contracts; and design services.
