High Court declines to stay process of SI recruitment
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has declined to stay the process for recruitment of 676 Sub-Inspectors, both direct recruitment and from among those serving the department at present.
Justice K. Venkataraman, before whom the writ petition filed by C. Sankar Ganesh of Ambattur came up for admission, adjourned the matter to Friday for filing of the counter.
The petitioner submitted that “undue indulgence” was being shown to the wards of in-service police personnel, prejudicing the chances of other open category students.
“No transparency”
Maintaining that even candidates who had not cleared the written test were called for medical test, he said the process lacked transparency as the results of the written test were not displayed in public. Alleging favouritism and malpractices during the selection process, the petitioner prayed for an interim injunction restraining the respondent-authorities from processing and publishing the results.
