Charges against CM: court seeks counter-affidavits

Legal Correspondent

Hyderabad: A Division Bench of the High Court on Thursday directed four Government departments to file counter-affidavits explaining facts regarding the allegations made against the Chief Minister that he had violated the law, including welfare legislation, vis-À-vis his estate at Idupulapaya.

The Bench issued this order while dealing with a writ petition filed by Telugu Desam Party leader Ashok Gajapathi Raju. The petitioner alleged that the Chief Minister had given a confessional statement that he violated many laws and possessed lands in violation of these laws.

He complained that the authorities had not initiated any action under various statutes.

The Bench felt that respondent departments through their secretaries file the response to the allegations made in the writ petition.

The Bench adjourned the matter by three weeks.
