‘Majority of Indians are secular’

BANGALORE: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said a majority of Indians have a moderate and secular outlook and do not subscribe to fanatic ideologies.

In a reply to the letter by former Railway Minister C.K. Jaffer Sharief in connection with detention of Dr. Haneef in Australia, Dr. Singh said, “I fully understand the anguish of minority communities, when the entire community is branded because of the actions and aberrations of a very few. By and large, in India, we have steered clear of this kind of finger pointing.”
