BHUBANESWAR: Bowing to public outcry, the Fee Structure Committee headed by retired justice P. K Mohanty has recommended reduction of fee for admission into private medical colleges by Rs. 50,000 per annum. The fee structure committee had earlier recommended Rs 4.5 lakh per annum for as admission fee MBBS course in private colleges in view of “higher operational cost of the course.” Several eligible students did not go for admission in private medical colleges due to the steep fee structure. Earlier, the fee was fixed at Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum. The committee further recommended that hike in self-financing courses into the engineering stream in three government colleges from Rs 26,000 to Rs 40,000 per annum and for Master in Computer application from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per annum.
