They will be set up in Davangere, Mysore, Bagalkot and Haveri districts Centre at Chennagiri to be ready by August 15
DAVANGERE: Apparel training and design centres and ready made garment manufacturing centres will be set up in Davangere, Mysore, Bagalkot and Haveri in the State by the respective zilla panchayats in association with local non-governmental organisations. The centres will train members of self-help groups and rural youth in apparel design and ready made garment manufacturing and involve them in the industry. Realizing that the textile industry will create huge employment after the agriculture sector, the Government has decided to train the rural youth, particularly women of self-help groups, in apparel design and manufacturing. One such apparel training and design centre is coming up in Chennagiri in Davangere district. The Davangere Zilla Panchayat in association with a NGO Taralabalu Rural Development Institute, will soon set up an apparel training and design centre, and readymade garment manufacturing centre at a cost of Rs. 61 lakh. Hectic preparations to set up the centre are under way and, according to Chief Executive Officer of Davangere Zilla Panchayat Nijalingappa, the centre would be ready by August 15 and training of the first batch of rural youth would be commenced by August 20. The zilla panchayat had sought a power of 20 Kv from the BESCOM for the centre and it had placed orders for the machinery. Training syllabus
Training syllabus and apparel and readymade garment manufacturing machinery would be as suggested by the Apparel Training and Design Centre, Bangalore, set up by the Union Government. Capital investment of machinery and others would be brought in by the zilla panchayat while the NGO would bring in the recurring expenditure.
