Backward Classes survey in October
CHAMARAJANAGAR: A survey of backward classes in the State is likely to begin in October, according to the Chairman of the Karnataka State Backward Class Commission, C.S. Dwarakanath.
He told presspersons here on Thursday that the survey would be conducted in a scientific manner and it would take into consideration the social, economic and educational status. The State Government and the Centre had provided funds for the survey. Once the survey results were ready, they would help the Government identify those among the backward classes most in need of assistance. The Census conducted in 1981, 1991 and 2001 did not take caste into account, he said.
