KOCHI: Digital technology leader, Samsung India on Tuesday announced the launch of its new range of flat colour televisions in the State. Seven models, including three Ultra SlimFit, two SlimFit and two flat TVs, were launched by R. Zutshi, deputy managing director of the company here on Tuesday. He pointed out that the market trend was towards the slimmer models, which are one third the size of the conventional flat television sets. The sets come with a host of features including channel minimiser (on screen menu display for easy channel surfing), channel scheduler (switch from one programme to another at a pre-set time), channel grouping (to group one’s favourite channels/programmes on categories), half mute (reduces volume to half at one’s touch) and music mode (listen to audio with display off). Answering a question , he said Samsung had a product line-up comprising 22 flat models, priced in the range of Rs.6,400 to Rs.22,500 and seven SlimFit TV models priced between Rs.10,500 and Rs.20,000. Pradeep Tognatta, director, sales, said the slim TV category was expected to fuel the transition from curved TVs to Flat TVs. The company expected to sell 200,000 units of Slim TVs this year and to notch up a 50 per cent market share. During the Onam season, for which a slew of promotional offers are available, the company expected to sell 50,000 television sets in Kerala to mop up Rs.80 crores.
