Medico commits suicide

GUNTUR: A second-year MBBS student of Guntur Medical College, Bulledu Vaibhav Som, 20, committed suicide on the college hostel terrace on Friday by consuming pesticide.

In a suicide letter written by him, death of his beloved, a student of Bachelor of Dental Surgery in Sibar Institute of Dental Sciences, was shown as prime reason for taking the extreme step. She committed suicide a month ago by consuming pesticide allegedly due to harassment by faculty there.

Hailing from Nidubrolu in Guntur district, Viabhav allegedly tried to commit suicide earlier by lying down on railway tracks but was saved by his friends when they got SMS from him. Later, his friends took him to his parents, who live near Ponnur.

He came back to college this Monday.

A pesticide bottle was found near the water tank of the hostel block where Vaibhav’s body lay.
