Letters to the Editor
This refers to the Sree Krishna temple management’s decision to allow entry to women wearing churidars in the Guruvayur temple. The strict dress code that required women to wear only saris seems to have been relaxed in view of complaints that many customs have become outdated. Now that the temple has relaxed its rules with regard to women, it should also stop insisting that men should remove their shirts and wear only dothis when they enter the temple. Chaumasri V. Ramlal, Chennai
The Guruvayur temple management’s decision is pragmatic and, therefore, welcome. It is common knowledge that several other retrograde regulations are in force in many of our temples. They too need to be removed. K.D. Viswanaathan, Nashua, New Hampshire
