Canara Bank net rises 26 p.c. in first quarter

BANGALORE: The net profit of Canara Bank rose by 26 per cent to Rs. 241 crore in the first quarter of 2007-08, after making a total provision of Rs. 372 crore as compared to a net profit of Rs. 191 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The operating profit improved to Rs. 612 crore from Rs. 575 crore. Total income recorded over 36 per cent growth at Rs. 3,760 crore against Rs. 2,755 crore.
