Musharraf meets Benazir

DUBAI: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf met the former Prime Minister and leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, Benazir Bhutto, in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, on Friday.

Diplomatic sources told The Hindu that the meeting at the Mushrif palace lasted over two hours.

The talks are expected to have a significant bearing on the coming elections in Pakistan.

Gen. Musharraf arrived with a high-level delegation that included a top military official. Later, he left for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Gen. Musharraf was received at the airport by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
