HYDERABAD: A garment seller, who allegedly extorted Rs. 25,000 from his family doctor threatening to link him to terrorist outfits, was arrested by the city police here on Friday.

Rings up doctor
In the first week of May, Akhtar rang up his family doctor Mohammed Yousufuddin Hasan claiming to be an activist of a fundamentalist organisation and demanded Rs. 2 lakh. He threatened the doctor that he would put him behind bars by creating evidence linking him to terrorist organisations. He also dropped a letter at the hospital but the doctor ignored it. However, the trader continued the threat calls. Finally, Mr. Hasan left a cover containing Rs. 25,000 on May 8 at a designated place.
When Akhtar continued to call for the remaining money, the doctor approached the police who laid a trap for Akhtar at Secunderabad Clock Tower and caught him.
