BIJAPUR: The Hubli Electricity Supply Company has launched a drive to recover pending bills totalling Rs. 92 crore. Arrears from owners of irrigation pumpsets alone amount to Rs. 62 crore. Executive Engineer Vithal Teli said consumers should pay bills in time to enable the company to provide better service. He said the power consumed in Bijapur district amounted to Rs. 7 crore but the recovery was only Rs. 4 crore. This forced the company to disconnect power supply to defaulters. Many expansion schemes had been hampered because of the financial crunch, he said. — Staff Correspondent
