NEW DELHI: A day after underworld don Babloo Srivastava was remanded to 20-day police custody under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for running an extortion racket, a Delhi court on Saturday remanded another underworld don, Fazl-ur-Rehman, to 19-day police custody in a MCOCA case. Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur asked the police to produce Rehman on August 17. The police contended that Rehman, in connivance with Babloo, had been involved in running a extortion racket in the Capital. A native of Darbhanga in Bihar, Rehman has been named in 14 cases in the Capital pertaining to extortion, attempt to murder and kidnapping. He was also booked in 29 other criminal cases, including that of murder, in various States and also Mumbai. The police said he used to run his crime syndicate from Dubai. Rehman was arrested on August 6, 2006, at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. The police had booked him and Babloo under MCOCA on December 29, 2006. Babloo on Friday was remanded to 20-day police custody under MCOCA by the court.
