BANGALORE: A two-day orientation course for judges in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) commenced at the Karnataka Judicial Academy here on Saturday with a sitting judge of the Kerala High Court inaugurating it.

K.T. Sankaran, Judge of the Kerala High Court, spoke on the benefits of ADR and cited several successes achieved by the Kerala High Court. He said 16,000 disputes concerning tsunami-related damages were settled in five days.

He said that there was a need to make people aware of ADR and its benefits.

Karnataka High Court Judge K.L. Manjunath said there would not be any complaints if persons associated with the justice delivery system cooperated and worked in tandem.

Senior High Court Judge S.R. Bannurmath welcomed the gathering.

Several judges and judicial officers participated.

The two-day course includes several sessions on the benefits of ADR.
