“Do not divert sewage into river”

Nagercoil: The Conservation of Nature Trust here has urged the district administration to stop the diversion of sewage water into the Pazhayar.

Chairman R.S. Lal Mohan said that the Pazhayar was a sacred river of Kanyakumari district. But recently some anti-social elements diverted sewage water of Nagercoil into the Pazhayar by blocking the access of the sewage canal in to Chemmankulam .

This is an offence according to Indian water Act, 1920, Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution Act, 1974) Act (section 24), Tamil Nadu Water (Prevention and control of Pollution Rules 1983), he said.
