‘Faculty key to quality education’

VISAKHAPATNAM: Former Director of National Council for Education (NCTE), Hyderabad, S. Padmanabaiah on Saturday said teachers hold the key to deliver quality education in any institute.
In his inaugural address at a two-day national seminar on K 12 (secondary education) teacher education: Issues and concerns at Dadi Institute of Engineering & Technology (DIET), Anakapalle, he spoke on the present status of private B.Ed. colleges in the State.
He emphasised the need for a creative teacher saying the Government should provide extra benefits to the trained graduates and utilise their services even in private B.Ed. colleges to avoid shortage of faculty.
According to him, more than infrastructure and building, an ideal teacher could give quality education in a better way.
Prof. B. Krishna Reddy, NCTE Director from Bangalore centre, said the need for quality education was of paramount importance and explained how NCTE was trying to pursue value based education.
