Krishna water release from August 3

CHENNAI: Andhra Pradesh will release the Krishna waters to Tamil Nadu from August 3, for meeting the drinking water requirements of Chennai City. This has been conveyed to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi by his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Mr. Karunanidhi had written to Mr. Reddy on July 20, requesting him to release water from the Kandaleru reservoir from the first week of August, for meeting Chennai’s drinking water needs.

Mr. Reddy, in his reply to Mr. Karunanidhi, said he had instructed Chief Engineer of the Telugu Ganga Project to release water from the Kandaleru reservoir from August 3, according to an official release.
