Health care: Medical personnel at Government Wenlock hospital distributing anti-filariasis tablets as part of the campaign in Mangalore on Saturday.
Udupi: The Medical Education Minister V.S. Acharya inaugurated a campaign to distribute the Diethylcarbamazine citrate (DEC) tablets in Udupi district to prevent the spread of filariasis, here on Saturday. He said the campaign would go a long way in controlling filariasis in the district. The Department of Health and Family Welfare has fixed a target of distributing DEC tablets to 10.58 lakh people. These tablets are being provided at 54 primary health centres (PHCs), community health centres, and 316 health sub-centres. The department aims to cover 2.12 lakh houses through 1,067 booths.
