CPI(M) condemns police firing
KOLAR: The police firing in Andhra Pradesh, which claimed eight lives, has evoked sharp criticism here. Communist Party of India (Marxist) activists staged a road blockade on Saturday at Mekke Circle condemning the firing on people who were demanding distribution of land to the poor.
The CPI(M) workers burnt an effigy of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Alleging that the Andhra Pradesh Government was hand in glove with landlords, they demanded the dismissal of what they termed the anti-poor Congress Government. The road blockade disrupted traffic. — Staff Correspondent
