BANGALORE: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials on Saturday raided a printing press in Kamakshipalya police station limits and seized a huge number of pirated books, including 1,080 copies of Harry Potter and The Deadly Hallows. The police put the value of seized books and printing machinery and material at Rs. 26 lakh. The police arrested Narasaraj (46), proprietor of the printing press situated at Chinnappa Industrial Estate, on charges of printing and selling books in violation of the Copyright Act. Three months ago, the police had arrested Narasaraj on similar charges and seized the printing press. Subsequently, Narasaraj came out on bail, got the printing press back through legal channel and continued with his illegal business. He is accused in four such cases, which pending trial in court, the police said. Besides, the Harry Pott er copies, the police seized thousands of pornographic books and printing material from the press. — Staff Reporter
