MANGALORE: Karnataka Bank has posted a net profit of Rs. 51.79 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2007, against Rs. 36.78 crore in the corresponding period in the previous year. Total business turnover stood at Rs. 23,866 crore. On a year-on-year basis, deposits grew by 11 per cent to Rs. 14,448 crore and advances by 21 per cent to Rs. 9,419 crore. Gross income rose from Rs. 330.64 crore to Rs. 403.67 crore. The operating surplus improved by 18 per cent to Rs. 103.84 crore. Net interest income rose by 31 per cent to Rs. 124.40 crore. The capital adequacy ratio stands at 12.72 per cent, after taking into account the market risk as per Basel II accord.
