Woman gets award for serving tsunami-hit in Nagapattianam

Nagapattinam: The Union Minister for Panchayati Raj, Mani Shankar Aiyar, on Friday, presented the ‘Anita Sen Memorial Award for Women Leadership’ to N. Bhuvaneswari in recognition of her services to the tsunami-affected people at a function in Poompuhar.
The award was instituted by Udyogini Trust, New Delhi.
The Minister also inaugurated the community seed bank of the Poompuhar Cauvery Delta Farmers Association, a farmers’ organisation promoted by the Covenant Centre for Development, and discussed with the members about the services extended by it.
The Collector, Tenkasi S. Jawahar, who presided over the function, appreciated the farmers’ federation for its various services provided to nearly one thousand ryots.
Vanitha Viswanath, CEO of Udyogini Trust, New Delhi and others spoke.
