Ensure safety of Paswan, says party

Special Correspondent

PATNA: The Lok Janshakti Party on Sunday lashed out at the State Government for failing to initiate action on the alleged threat to its party chief and Union Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan about 10 days ago.

Paswan’s younger brother and MLA Peculate Kumar Paris, State in-charge Raja Kumar Manhasset and spokesman Sanjay Singh said the State Government was yet to react to the letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs seeking a report on the issue.

Mr. Paswan had informed the Ministry of Home Affairs soon after a caller threatened to welcome him with a hail of bullets on his arrival in Patna the next time round. Mr. Paswan had provided the two mobile numbers from which the call came. The State leaders said they had also taken up the matter with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar before he left for Mauritius. They threatened to stage an agitation if the State Government failed to take steps to ensure the safety of Mr. Paswan and his family members.

They demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.
