Emergency services transport and super speciality hospitals mission from August 15 To provide data on disease surveillance, timely information and tackling epidemics
HYDERABAD: Rajiv Arogyasri (Rajiv Health Mission), an integrated programme merging the on going health emergency transport, treatment and insurance would be launched on August 15. The mission brings together the Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI-108), Health Management and Research Institute (HMRI-1056), health insurance scheme for the poor (Arogyasri) and National health mission. The entire network is expected would be completed by August 15, according to a press note issued by the Chief Minister’s Office on Sunday. The Chief Minister Y. S.Rajasekhara Reddy said at a review meeting that integration of these schemes would make Andhra Pradesh the first State to introduce such a quality emergency transport and treatment for the majority of the people in multi-speciality hospitals. This would be Rs. 1,000 crore programme to start with. B. Ramalinga Raju of Satyam Foundation said this would be world’s best health programme by any standards. The programme would now become a Government programme but operated and maintained by Satyam Foundation in collaboration and cooperation of other major corporates. All emergency services like transport, medication, treatment and super speciality hospitals would be rolled out in the State from August 15. It would be launched in three districts and extended to other districts in phased manner. The scheme would be supported by Satyam Foundation, PHFI, Indian School of Business, EMRI, Mc Kinsey and Prof C. K. Prahalad. The mission would provide data on disease surveillance, timely information and tackling outbreak of epidemics. Finance Minister K. Rosaiah, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sambhani Chandrasekhar, Principal Secretary (health) P.K. Agarwal, Principal Secretary (finance) Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner Family Welfare, Anil C. Punetha, Chairman Satyam Computers, B.Ramalinga Raju, Managing Director, B.Rama Raju, EMRI CEO, Venkat Changavalli, HMRI CEO Balaji Utla and other officials attended the meeting.
