BELLARY: Minja Yang, UNESCO representative to India, and Paul Troulloud, architect and UNESCO consultant, on Monday held discussions with officials of the Hampi World Heritage Area Management Authority at Hospet with regard to the impl ementation of the master plan for the systematic development of Hampi World Heritage site. The UNESCO representatives have been associating themselves at every stage in the process of preparing the master plan, holding discussions with the officials, eliciting their opinions on various issues, including movement of transport in the heritage area, human settlement, schools and hospitals. In a chat with presspersons, Ms. Yang reiterated that there was need to preserve and conserve Hampi and plan how the city and the villages in the heritage area have to expand in future in a systematic way. “We are working together with the authority and other departments concerned to have an integrated development approach within the planning area, besides eliciting the views and opinions of the concerned on various issues like human settlement,” she said. Arvind Srivastav, Deputy Commissioner and chairman of the authority, said UNESCO representatives were having detailed discussions. Meanwhile, the authority has planned to hold village-level meetings to explain the draft master plan on August 1, he said.
